Fundamental Glossary / Cash Flow Metrics
Cash Flow from Operations
The operating section total on the cash flow statement. The reported name for the cash the core business produced.
Formula
The subtotal "net cash from operating activities" in the cash flow statement.
What it means
Cash flow from operations is the statement line. Operating cash flow is the metric people quote. In a standard filing they are the same number.
Keeping both names matters because one source may say OCF and another may say cash flow from operations, and a reader should not go looking for two different facts.
How to read it
Use the audited subtotal, not a presentation slide that starts from EBITDA and adds a selective set of items. The statement already did the reconciliation.
What to watch
Classification of interest and dividends received can sit in operating or investing cash flow. A comparison across companies fails if you ignore that choice.
This note explains the term. It is not a research recommendation, a target price, or a comment on any security. Ratios and regulatory thresholds change; use the latest filing or circular for a live figure.
