Auditor Resignation
The statutory auditor leaving before the term ends.
Formula
Disclosed to the exchanges. SEBI expects the reasons, and the audit committee's view, rather than a one-line "preoccupation."
What it means
Auditors are appointed for a term. A mid-term resignation can be ordinary, for example a rotation or a conflict. It can also mean the auditor was unwilling to sign the accounts management wanted.
The resignation letter and the company's disclosure of disagreements are the documents that matter.
How to read it
A resignation just before the annual results, with vague reasons, is a serious governance event. Treat the next set of numbers as unproven until a new auditor has signed them.
What to watch
Frequent changes of auditor, even when each reason sounds administrative, are a pattern. One change is a fact. Three changes in a few years is a behaviour.
This note explains the term. It is not a research recommendation, a target price, or a comment on any security. Ratios and regulatory thresholds change; use the latest filing or circular for a live figure.
