Fibonacci & Gann Tools
Ratio grids and geometric tools used to mark possible retracements, extensions, and time. 16 topics.
Fibonacci Retracement
Horizontal levels that divide a completed swing into Fibonacci ratios, used to mark where a pullback may slow.
Fibonacci Extension
Levels beyond a swing, measured as ratios larger than 100 percent of that swing, used as possible objectives.
Fibonacci Projection
A three-point measure that projects the length of one swing forward from the end of the pullback.
Fibonacci Expansion
Levels that measure how far a new leg expands past the prior extreme, using the impulse and the pullback together.
Fibonacci Arcs
Curved levels at Fibonacci distances from a point, so the level changes price as time passes.
Fibonacci Fan
Diagonal lines from a swing point through Fibonacci divisions of that swing, used as sloping support or resistance.
Fibonacci Time Zones
Vertical lines spaced a Fibonacci number of bars apart, marking times to watch rather than prices.
Fibonacci Channel
Parallel lines spaced at Fibonacci ratios of a channel width, built from a trendline and a parallel.
Fibonacci Ratios
The percentages derived from the Fibonacci sequence that traders plot on swings.
Golden Ratio
The number phi, about 1.618, the limit of successive Fibonacci numbers, and the source of the 61.8 percent chart level.
Gann Fan
A set of diagonal lines from a high or a low, drawn at the price-to-time rates W. D. Gann used, with 1x1 as the main balance line.
Gann Square of Nine
A spiral number grid Gann used to relate a price to other prices by rotations around the square.
Gann Angles
Diagonal rates of price per bar, of which the 1x1 is the principal Gann angle.
Gann Grid
A lattice of Gann angles extended in both directions from a price and time anchor.
Gann Square
A square laid over a price range so that the width in time and the height in price are treated as equal units.
Time Cycles
Recurring intervals, measured in bars or calendar days, that traders watch for swings to rhyme.
